Excellent moment passé à la cité.

The room itself was quite good: large, with a nice view out of the window. It could do with a mosquito screen on the window though, as they were quite bad. The location is nice: there are shops close by, a tram stop a short walk away and a bus stop just outside the house. The building is large and spacious, and with all of the windows open you get a good breeze through it. Each room has its own fridge in it, but I moved mine outside because of the noise. The cleanliness of the house is very dependent on the other flatmates, and with 9 of them it's almost guaranteed that there will be some problems. There were usually dishes piled up and other messes in the kitchens and the bins would fill up very quickly (there are two wheelie bins which are each collected once per week, plus a glass recycling bin across the road). There was a rota when I arrived, but nobody stuck to it. The kitchen is large but there is no indoor communal area like a living room, only a small table in the garden. I think it would solve two problems if at least one rented room was converted into a living room, as I think 10 tenants is too many for a place this size. The biggest issue was the state of the room. It was very dirty when I arrived and clearly had not been cleaned or inspected after the previous tenant: the mattress was filthy and sagged in the middle, almost half the bed slats were missing, the chair was completely broken, there was a patch of damp under the fridge and splattered mosquitos (as well as another mysterious stain) all over the walls. The bed (and floor) were covered in hair and I was charged 15EUR for bedsheets (there was no mention of this in the listing). Pascale and her husband were fairly responsive: I reported the missing bed slats a week into my stay and they were mostly replaced a week and a half later, but by the time I moved out after a month I was still waiting for a few more. The chair was replaced the day I moved in, but with a metallic one from a garden that was not really suitable for working on. They came to inspect the damp patch but I don't know how much could really be done about it without replacing the whole floor. In sum, my stay was okay, I liked the other tenants and the building has a lot of potential, but at the moment I think there are too many people crammed into it and the standard of hospitality left a lot to be desired.

Un logement bien équipé avec un bon bureau pour étudiant, des étagères pour ranger ses affaires, un bon matelas pour dormir, et bonus... un réfrigérateur qui ne fait pas de bruit. Une cuisine spacieuse à l'étage et des voisins gentils et coopératifs. Le top!
